vaznetti: (bang bang)
I am rewatching the episode now, and this really is one of those "why the hell aren't you all watching this show?" episodes. Seriously. I just got to the bit where spoilers! spoilers of awesome! )

And again, all I can say is, why aren't you watching this show?
vaznetti: (jericho)
The other thing I've been mulling over, when thinking about Jericho, is the way Stanley's farm seems acts as a symbolic -- and contested -- space within the storyline. more vague meanderings below )

Look, ma! meta!
vaznetti: (end of the world)
And this is what Jericho does really, really well.

flailing and spoilers under the cut )

This is such a good show.
vaznetti: (jericho)
Jericho is back! Hurrah! there was much rejoicing throughout the land, and I stayed up late to watch it.

notes and spoilers beneath the cut )

And now, as it is well past my bedtime, I must go sleep.

It's official! Jericho will come back as a mid-season replacement on CBS!!!!! Yay!!!!

They're showing season one again over the summer, and putting episodes up on line, as well, and the DVD will come out September 25th. Prepare to be pimped! The first half of the season is tough going, I admit, but the second half really pulls together, and the final few episodes are some of the best stuff I saw last year on TV.

Yay!
vaznetti: (bang bang)
It looks like the good news about Supernatural is real good news, and not just a bunch of leaked wishful thinking. I really, really want to say "yay!" but it turns out that CBS has canceled Jericho, which is extremely disappointing. I know that the show got off to a slow start, but the final episodes were really stellar, and it deserved a second season.

Woe! and Grr!

And it ended on a real cliffhanger, which now I guess we must sort out in fic, or at least play around with. You'll all read my SPN/Jericho crossovers, right?

Well, I know what I'm asking for for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide this year.

And again, GRRR!
vaznetti: (jericho)
So this week, I have two things to say. First of all, why are you not watching this show? And second, this show, this show I used to think didn't have a lot of emotional depth, this show made me cry tonight. This was one hell of a season finale.

notes on Jericho 1x22: Why We Fight )

Please, please let this show get a second season. It deserves one, now.

I may have more to say about this show through the summer. I hope the DVDs come out over the summer, so I can watch the whole thing again.
vaznetti: (crossovers yay!)
Earlier lists of five here (SPN, Jericho), here (SPN, XF) and here (Primeval).

And finally... for [livejournal.com profile] celli and [livejournal.com profile] camille_is_here, Five crossovers the Winchesters didn't know they were in. (Alias, Jericho, Primeval, Angel, The Riddle-Master of Hed)

five crossovers, under the cut -- mostly gen, mostly Sam and Dean. )

I don't think I've ever needed this many tags on a post!
vaznetti: (jericho)
First, an insta-rec -- Fireball, by [livejournal.com profile] celli. I may well be the least-likely reader for this fic, since it's an SGA AU set in the world of NASCAR racing, which is something I know absolutely nothing about. Maybe less than nothing. As I type this, I'm betting that the "R" stands for "racing," so that NASCAR racing is actually redundant. Whatever. The point is that I took a chance on it, and loved every single word of it. It's John/Rodney, but the whole team is there, and everyone seems perfect to me. It made me laugh out loud, it's a romance, the plot kept me going, and the whole thing just works really, really well.

Even if it's not your thing, go give it a try.

* * *

Last night I saw the Space Channel rerun of Jericho and why are you all not watching this show? it's amazing! )

The short version -- all the slow plot-and-character-and-world-building from the beginning is finally paying off, and paying off big-time. If you are looking for a show to catch up on over the summer, jericho is worth a look.

* * *

In other news, I have been reading Vorkosigan books pretty much non-stop for the past few days, and will probably have something to say about that, eventually.
vaznetti: (end of the world)
Is that what it was called? These are really just scattered observations, nothing coherent, but I am still being avoidant about packing etc.

Jericho: Casus Belli )

I really wish the episode had been called "Guns and Butter," by the way. And I did like it, even though it was full of things that didn't make much sense at all.
vaznetti: (jericho)
Is lj really slow tonight, or is it just me?

comments on the episode under here )
vaznetti: (love and apocalypse)
And now for the show that did work for me. All the slow world-building is finally paying off, here.

spoilers for Jericho 1x16: Winter's End )

I think I need icons for this show, now, too.
vaznetti: (john likes guns and knives)
I really enjoyed that episode. Johnston Green is a man after my own heart.

spoilers for ep 15, semper fidelis )

This show gives me stuff to think about (and not just hats vs. tanks) and I like that.
vaznetti: (let it snow)
Are they changing the television schedules around, or am I having short-term memory problems? Whatever the case, I missed the first few minutes of Jericho last night (but will be able to catch them on the special Canadian rerun, hooray.)

I like this show more and more, as I watch it. Last week's episode was all about worldbuilding -- and particularly about what's gone on outside the town's borders. How will people get enough to eat, and keep sheltered and warm; who will they trade with and how; who's in charge of what. I am a big sucker for worldbuilding, particularly in a postapocalyptic scenario. I want to know how ordinary people are getting along, or failing to get along, and this show gives me that. This week's episode focused on the same questions, but on the personal scale: not how the world has changed, but how it's changed the people living in it.

spoilers for last night's episode, but mostly general commentary )

I have nothing really spoilery or even coherent to say about this show. It just amuses me on a very deep level, and it feeds all my apocafic-loving kinks, as I may have said before.

If it had Winchesters, I would lick it.
vaznetti: (perspective)
I'm enjoying this show, for a couple of reasons. First of all, it's a post-apocalypse, which has always been one of my favorite genres. Also, cut for spoilers, but nothing too detailed )

I can see myself becoming more and more interested in this universe. Once I learn all the characters' names, anyway.

Also -- it's November 2, and I still haven't signed up for Yuletide. I still haven't even thought about what I'll request or offer. And I still have about 20 exams to mark and a lecture to write. Wish me luck, guys!
