So, is there new Alias tonight? I'm so distracted that I now relay on my flist for TV listings--it's only down to some kind soul mentioning it that I managed to see Veronica Mars last night.

I was reading through some of my episode-review posts from last year while thinking about a fandom/fanfic year in review post (which I won't be doing). I did a fairly good job keeping my optimism and good humor, in retrospect, but Season 3 did wear on me: I'm not as excited about the premiere as I was last year, and I don't feel the same buzz from my flist that I did last year, either.

( that said, I'm not wholly pessimistic )

I may have more to say, but now I need to get back to my day job.

This commentary builds off the excellent posts made earlier this week by Amy and Rez. What follows is in part for my own reference--I'm not sure I'm breaking new ground.

I have, I admit, been mean and snarky and bitchy about this season's Alias, and I'm not going to apologize about that. There's been a lot to mock, especially the poor continuity. But for all the people who would ask, "If you don't like the show, why keep watching it?" I would answer ( just call me pollyanna )

So yes, go ahead and call me Pollyanna. I think that the last few episodes will make the whole season work.

The mixture of really warm weather and a visit from my mother-in-law and her partner was not conducive to time spent in front of the computer, and now I don't think I'll ever catch up on my FL.

I keep thinking of things to post and then forgetting them, as well. Very bad.

I'm sure there's more to be said, but it's late, and I have a long day tomorrow. I really want to comment on a number of other people's episode reviews as well. I only hope that tomorrow I'll remember what I meant to say.

Last night, about halfway through 24, the B.H. turned to me and said, "You know, if this was the other Jack, he could just take Salazar to one of his warehouses and fix them both up."

I've got to go back to seeing this show as popcorn.

And isn't it interesting that I can turn an episode in which the character is not mentioned and does not appear into an episode that's all about Sark?

We are on 3x09, right? ( What was the name of the episode? Conscious? Conscience? )

My verdict: excellent. I feel all tingly. I feel the need to think hard about Lazarey.

Six episodes in, and it's time for me to think about the Covenant, who might be behind it, and what Sark's relation to it may be.

I wanted to work "Money is the usual thing" in here somewhere, but couldn't. The Dunnett quotes are of course entirely gratuitous.

This won't really be episode commentary. Just highlights, because there was a lot to like in ( Alias 3x05 )

Not bad at all, say I.

Jack needs more screen time with Crazy Uncle Arvin, and soon. Messing with Vaughn and Dixon isn't enough work to keep him busy. He's looking twitchy to me.

The big mystery might not be where Sydney was and what she did, but why she woke up. That's the mystery that's keeping Jack awake at night, if anything is: it happened while he was in prison, while he could have had no control over her life. No matter what he knows about her disappearence, he doesn't know who was responsible for that.

Off to see what everyone else had to say, I guess. And to consider the plotbunnies. It may be time for a pot of rabbit stew.
