Alias thoughts...

RIP Lindsay. You should never have threatened Sloane and Sydney, you dumb fuck.

If there are odds on Allison being dead, I'd vote that she's alive--unless the super healing thing she had last time just stopped working? Which I suppose is possible, in Alias-logic. Maybe a knife in the heart is what it takes. But I was somewhat unsatisfied by the way that worked out, in part because the scen where Allison is sobbing over Will's body is so effective, and Will seemed... I know he said that it was empty, at the end, but he didn't regret it. And I think Allison did.

Julia volunteered to have her memories removed? Now that's fascinating. Last week I hypothesized that she and Lazarey were working together--now, I'd guess that Julia was calling the shots. Was Sydney her safety-valve, as she was Sydney's?

So it's confirmed: Lazarey is alive, if not well. To be honest, he seemed tired and bitter. Granted he wasn't having the best time ever--tranquilized and tortured by his own son--but he was abrupt, and possibly frightened of something, even in the scene with Will. And clearly, he's not winning father of the year any time soon.

Which is just as well, given that his own son decided to use a creme brulee torch on him. Sark was in very poor form this evening. Torturing random mad scientists may be part of the game, but torturing your own father? Their relationship is worse than Jack and Sydney's ever was. I felt rather badly for Sark, despite the blow-torch episode, to be honest--his father first failed to recognize him, then failed to help him, preferring Julia/Sydney to his own son, and seemed to feel that the money should have been enough for him. Whereas I still think that for Sark, the "that which I never had" is a family connection of some kind. He wants to matter to someone. Unfortunately, he's also a sociopath and incapable of figuring out how to go about achieving that.

Anyway, I'll be sad to learn that Sark killed him. Surely they still have catching up to do?

As for the "good father," Jack was on fine form this evening: hitting Lindsay simply because he could--although Sloane was more effective on that count. As for his speech to Vaughn... I'm not surprised that Vaughn is doing what he's been told. Would you disobey Jack Bristow? The man's a killer!

OK, and by the way, in the scene with Will and Sydney in the safe house, when he says, "So you and Vaughn's wife..." was anyone else thinking of the Syd/Lauren slash vibe? I really wanted Sydney to say, "Yeah, we keep having sex--I don't know what it means!"

By the way, did it seem that Sydney had all too easy a time catching up with Sark? Perhaps that was just "she's the hero!" show logic, rather than being significant. And speaking of show-logic, how the hell did Sark know to turn up at Dr. Cronenberg's place? Who told him that Sydney had been there? The Covenant? Sloane? How many people knew where she was? And does this mean that the Covenant also knew that Jack, Sloane and Vaughn rescued her? Perhaps Sloane is the Covenant, so there's no conflict of interest there? Or is Sark going freelance on this one, tracking Sydney? Or using her to track Lazarey? When did he learn that Lazarey was alive? Because he didn't look all that surprised to see him (although he looked deeply annoyed about not killing Will.)

Despite all this Sark related ink, I still like Sloane best. He's such a cutie! I adore the way he plays innocent with Sydney. And I'm glad he got Il Dire back, however he managed that.

I'm sure there's more to be said, but it's late, and I have a long day tomorrow. I really want to comment on a number of other people's episode reviews as well. I only hope that tomorrow I'll remember what I meant to say.
