OK. I had a busy week, I admit it. I haven't been paying as much attention to livejournal as I might have. But I just looked at this week's edition of
metafandom, and wow. Was it a slow week for television or something? Where did all the wank come from? Women shouldn't write from a male pov? Or should we? Are we really about to have slash vs. het again, complete with witty observations like, "Well, it seems to me that het fic isn't very good. Of course, I don't read much of it," and decent het writers with an attachment to fandom being classified as "atypical"? And we haven't even finished talking about whether slash is gay or not!
Please tell me that there will lots and lots of new television next week, so that we will all be backing away from the stupidity.

Date: 2006-03-28 02:23 am (UTC)It hurts me in my soul, man.
Also, hey, let's keep in mind that's "boyslash vs. het" because whenever someone says "slash is better than het" they sure as hell DO NOT mean femslash. That just doesn't even exist because there is no sex without cocks or penetration. *smiles* See, I have LEARNED things from fandom. Like that.
Also that Bill Adama completes Laura Roslin's soul and having his baby would make her pause about her pro-choice stance.

Date: 2006-03-28 02:24 am (UTC)ARGH. The slash vs. het debate. How I loathe that one...
Hopefully with March Madness about to wrap up, we'll have lots more TV to argue over soon. I hope!

Date: 2006-03-28 02:50 am (UTC)Once upon I time, I liked engaging in this sort of thing. Now I'd rather just sit on the sidelines and wait for May sweeps. Or for the madness to pass. Or whatever. Shouldn't these people all be off reading Remix stories or something?

Date: 2006-03-28 02:48 am (UTC)Oh, well. ::amused:: If I only wrote from personal experience, my stories would be much more boring. And I'm not sure what a feminist is these days, and I doubt I ever was one. (I'm all in favor of people getting to do what they're competent at and like, though, regardless of gender, race, age, and/or species. Where does that put me, do you think?)
Here, though, have <a href="http://www.dueslash.com/archive/1183.html>link to a due South/Twin Peaks crossover</a> which I am, so far, greatly enjoying. {{hugs}}

Date: 2006-03-28 02:54 am (UTC)Also, I hate to say it but "people getting to do what they're competent at and like, though, regardless of gender, race, age, and/or species" puts you square in the feminist camp. Unless you'd rather do without the vote, of course?
Hm. I'll look up that crossover when I'm not off to an early night!

Date: 2006-03-28 02:58 am (UTC)I can't even follow the slash and/or gay discussion. I'm a classicist because I can't do theory.
