Still good. I'll be back next week.
I think that actually, Sarah and John would have been a lot more lost by the way the world changed than they seemed, but it would have got in the way of the story. And I can handwave it, given the way they live.
I really liked that characters from the first episode turned up again, too. And the cancer, from T3, which I'm not sure I've actually seen. And there were some nice moments -- especially with Cameron outside Carlos' house, and the way she mimicked the other woman. I like the balance of knowledge and ignorance, in her and in Sarah -- that Cameron, for all her knowledge, is as much at a loss as Sarah sometimes is.
Someday, Cameron will kill someone who really is innocent.
Also: Lawrence, Kansas? Was that absolutely necessary?
I was a little worried, of course, when John took off on his own, there, but it worked out differently than I expected, and I liked it. It was still impulsive, but it was understandable.
The thing about the franchise is that I find the terminators really scary, because they're so hard to destroy -- the scenes of the terminator reassembling itself really freaked me out. So I find myself caught up in the tension of the whole thing, too.
I'm sure I have other things, but I need to sleep now more than I need to figure out what they were. At some point, I'm also going to want icons.

Date: 2008-01-15 04:02 am (UTC)The cognitive dissonance from time displacement is something I'm hoping they'll get into more. Because the world *has* changed in the past eight years, beyond the geopolitical situation. And no matter how uncertain their lives have been, they'll have to experience moments where they blink and think "what the hell???"
Cameron outside of Carlos' house was awesome. As was Sarah when she came out yelling to distract the cop.
At least in this case, the Kansas was an Oz reference?

Absolutely -- about big and small things, I think.
Another scene I really liked was John setting his cellphone message -- how he went through normal, and got all the way to the savior of the world stuff, and then shut down and left the most impersonal message he could. That was a great character moment, the way he fell right back into reality there.

and gah, *nods* the Terminator reassembling itself? That's the part that freaks me the hell out. It's like something out of your nightmares. They just keep coming. *SHUDDER*

Yes, yes, and I agree that I can handwave it.
Besides, I already had that gut-clench of tv-show induced make it not have happened, make it not real, make it not happen in FS's Terra Firma.
Lawrence, Kansas? Was that absolutely necessary?
...yes?
*is still in love with SPN*
I do so hope this show stays good.

Date: 2008-01-15 01:59 pm (UTC)I laughed at the Lawrence thing, especially after the way everyone on my friends list went straight to the SPN crossover possibilities after the first episode. Not that I would object to that in any way whatsoever, but it amused me.
