This meme has "me" all over it. Seriously.

You should totally do this meme! Although since all I'm doing is writing drabbles, I can see why you wouldn't want to.

::laughing:: Yeah, this is me -- I would totally end up with 1000+ word fics instead of drabbles. Which is why I'm not doing it...

I think that the thing is that it would be all too easy for me to bring John and Joe together, as a follow-up to the crossover with Amanda -- I figure that Joe was one of the names she left him with, and Duncan was probably the other. So he'll turn up one day in Seacouver, probably sit at the bar a while, come back the next night. Joe will probably realize right off the bat that this guy has some kind of business, if not what it is; he may be the one to start the conversation. [Although at this point I'd need to know about Joe's military background -- Marines or army? -- John was marines -- although I'd doubt they'd talk about it.] In fact he'd have to start the conversation, because I don't think John even knows what he's looking for. Maybe just someone to talk to for a night. Maybe just a place to go to, every now and then.

Joe was a Marine, Semper Fi all the way, and I got the impression that he was still a PFC when he stepped on that landmine. Does that help?

Thank goodness that I know nothing about the Marines or about Vietnam, because otherwise I'd be horribly tempted to write that fic. So very tempted. (Also, SPN chronology is shaky, and I suspect the writers of not actually knowing when the Vietnam war happened.)

Thanks for the beta offer -- I got a request I think I can do, luckily, but I may need brainstorming help.

Well, that's probably an exaggeration. I mean, if was Alias I'd know they didn't (or rather, that they didn't care); as it stands, in SPN, I think the details of John's service are gray canon.
