So, about tonight's Bones

What the hell? Was that the season finale and I didn't realize it? The station here doesn't do scenes from next week, so I am completely in the dark here. And I don't want to be in the dark!
Booth is going to be all right, right? I mean, obviously, because he is one of the stars. But I am still concerned! And I was all happy! and aren't they cute! and then! argh!
That's all I have. I had other comments, but they have been driven out of my head.
ETA: OK, no. I am not really sure that I liked that, as plot developments go. It felt melodramatic; it felt like a way of forcing the Bones/Booth relationship. And I'm not sure it needed to be forced -- they're already adorable, and they admire each other, and I firmly believe they were heading for weird-but-cute romance territory. But now, he took a bullet for her! and she shot Pam! It just seems like more baggage than they really need. Whether it's going to be used to make some distance between them or bring them together it just seems... I don't know. Over the top.

Date: 2008-05-13 01:14 am (UTC)It was kind of... odd, now that I think about it. As plot developments go, I am not entirely in favor.

Date: 2008-05-13 01:59 am (UTC)That's true. I guess I will withhold judgment until I see what happens next week -- it's possible that this will lead to all kinds of cool character stuff.
I agree with you about the singing -- Zach was awesome!

And Booth is so going to survive.

Date: 2008-05-13 10:47 am (UTC)Ah -- this is what comes of being completely unspoiled and not seeing the "next week!" promo. It didn't even occur to me that there might be good story-related reasons for the shooting.
I will have o trust the show.

Date: 2008-05-13 10:41 am (UTC)You have a very neat job, but it must make watching TV (and all of us!) odd at times.

Date: 2008-05-13 02:50 pm (UTC)It does make for an odd viewing experience (and sometimes I really wish I could be spoiler free.).
Interestingly, I wasn't really interested in this show until I started reading the scripts. The episode next week will be the first one that I handled clearances for. I keep making the mistake though of reading the scripts while I'm eating lunch. :)

Date: 2008-05-13 06:08 am (UTC)I was worried there for a second, though, because it was...awfully reminiscent of the thing that broke my heart on Torchwood.

Date: 2008-05-13 11:05 am (UTC)Ha! I didn't even think of that, but it would have been awesome beyond words. Seriously. (I was hoping that Bones' singing would be hysterically bad, actually.)

I would also say that, while taking a bullet for her is new, it's hardly the first time their relationship has strayed into weird and personal and seriously life-threatening territory. The episode with Brennan and Hodgins buried alive springs to mind. Or the one where [spoiler redacted] was trying to kill Bones, and Booth almost got blown up.
Not only that, but they've almost been pleasantly effective at bringing them closer through shared moral quandary. I mean, it usually involves the effects on the conscience of killing somebody, but how often do you see that seriously addressed on TV? Not to mention the ongoing arc of Brennan's father.
Anyway, I'm just thinking that it may not be a ploy to bring them together. They're already about as "together" (in the colloquial sense) as two people who aren't sleeping with each other can be. And while I see your point about them not needing more emotional baggage, at the same time I hardly think that a little more emotional baggage is going to make much of a difference. Perhaps Sweets will disagree, however! Wouldn't that be fun?
