The results of the meme I did the other day: here's my list of characters!
1. Jack Bauer (24)
2. Kate Somerville (Lymond Chronicles)
3. Irina Derevko (Alias)
4. John Winchester (SPN)
5. Frank Pembleton (Homicide)
6. Lauren Reed (Alias)
7. Kaylee Frye (Firefly)
8. Alex Krycek (XF)
9. Sarah Connor (SCC)
10. Al Swearengen (Deadwood)
cofax asked: In what way did 2 and 7 meet?
I think that the only way Kate Somerville would ever meet Kaylee Frye... let's suppose that Serenity crash-lands in Flaw Valleys, during a really epic time-travel accident, which is exactly the kind of thing which might well happen to Serenity. And then Kate would probably feel obliged to take them all in -- and I suspect might well do a fairly good job handling the crew, now that I think about it. Kate isn't entirely unflappable, but she doesn't flap easily.
And: What was the outcome when 1 stole 9's pizza?
The pizza was obviously an important accessory in a truly horrible terrorist plot against the US. Also, Jack Bauer doesn't get a lot of time to eat during his 24-hour days, and he was hungry. But when he stole the pizza from Sarah Connor, she assumed that the theft was part of some terminator plot from the future to kill John, so she had to hunt Jack down and try to kill him. This didn't work (it never works!) but they overcame the misunderstanding to team up to save the world, present and future, blow lots of stuff up, and have lots and lots of hot sex.
And: 8's particularly fond of which of 6's weapons? (Or tools or item of wardrobe.)
I have a feeling that it's the sniper rifle she uses to kill Sark's father (what was his name? Lazarei?).
yahtzee63 asked: Would 7 be more likely to fall in love with 6 or with 10? Would 9 approve of 7's choice?
Would Kaylee Frye be more likely to fall in love with Lauren Reed or with Al Swearengen? Well, they both have a host of bad habits, but Lauren is at least capable of being charming, and I think that I can imagine a situation in which Kaylee sort of looks up to her, the way she looks up to Inara or Zoe, and then something develops out of that. Plus, Lauren is pretty, and Kaylee likes pretty things. But then Lauren would betray them all, and it would end very badly.
Sarah Connor would not approve of either choice, I feel.
lisek16 asked: if 4 and 7 were contestants on "Are you smarter then a fifth grader?" who would have a better chance of winning?
OK. John Winchester and Kaylee Frye are contestants on "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" I just need to take a moment to get my head around that ... Well. My first thought would be "whoever is not John Winchester wins," if only because I can't actually picture him sitting still through the show -- he'd walk out. And although I suspect he knows a good deal more random information about state capitals than Kaylee does, I'm going to have to stick to that thought. Kaylee wins by default.
But now I want someone to write the story where John is in Hell and it's wall-to-wall game shows that he has to participate in. Because he'd totally have an aneurism except, haha! he's already dead and it wouldn't do him any good!
What? Hell is evil like that.
aliskye asked: Why is it that 3 and 5 just do not make good dance partners?
Frank Pembleton and Irina Derevko do not make good dance partners because Irina is evil, and Frank does not dance with evil. (Aside from that problem, I suspect that they would dance quite well together.)
If 8 posed artistically for 10, what media would 10 be working in and would that work out at all well?
If Alex Krycek posed artistically for Al Swearengen... Um. OK. There is no scenario I can come up with that does not end in the apocalypse. I'm sorry. I can't go there. It would not work out well at all.
I am, however, pretty sure that Al would paint watercolors, if he could get Krycek to stand still long enough to pose. But I bet Al prefers landscapes to figure painting.
jood asked: What did 2 make for 4 when they first had dinner? What did 4 bring to drink with it?
Well, not pie. Hm. I do not really see either Kate Somerville or John Winchester as being much given to dating, so I will imagine a scenario in which John sort of shows up in Flaw Valleys in some gravely injured state, and Kate being Kate, she takes him in and makes sure he heals up an all that. So the first thing he eats in her presence is probably some kind of broth. Will that count? Had he known he was supposed to bring something, he would have brought a six-pack of some midway-decent beer.
And now I am considering this as a pairing and... well, it could work if you would make the crossover work. Except that I think that eventually Kate would lose patience with John and he would come back one day to find all his things packed up and waiting for him at the gatehouse, with a note requesting that he never, ever come back. And of course, once Dean found out that Philippa had been in the seraglio, there could never be a meet-the-family dinner, because it would just be one inappropriate comment after another.
And: 3 gave 6 a book as a gift. What was it and why?
Well, since Irina Derevko practically wrote the book on "how to spy on your husband and never get caught until after you've faked your own death," she might well have given that book to Lauren. Unfortunately, it seems that Lauren did not bother to read the whole thing.
Or it was Smiley's People, and again, Lauren did not quite get the point Irina was making..
And: If there was a buy one get one free sale at Nordstrom, what would 8 buy?
I feel that it would be something really dull and utilitarian, like black turtlenecks or jeans. I don't know that Krycek is much of a shopper, left to his own devices, and Nordstrom's doesn't have quite the kind of stock he's usually interested in.
And: What is the one personal habit about 10 that drives 5 mad?
Only one? I think it may be that Al never washes those long johns. I mean, Frank Pembleton strikes me as pretty fastidious, and I think that would irritate him a lot. Although the thing about Al that Frank would like least is that Al is a pimp and an occasional murderer.
hossgal asked: 6 and 8 have to choose a form of transportation. Of the following, which would they agree most closely on (pro/con) and which would they disagree violently on? (Choices are: The Black Stallion, the Black Pearl, a Prowler, and KITT.)
Awesome! OK, Alex Krycek and Lauren Reed are obviously in need of a speedy getaway from whatever their latest nefarious deed was. Lauren totally wants the Black Stallion, because she never really got over the horsey phase, but Krycek nixes that idea for being completely impractical, given that there are two of them. Really, it's because he doesn't trust horses. He wants to use the Black Pearl, because he has always had secret piratical fantasies, but this time Lauren disagrees, because she says it would also be impractical, in addition to being haunted. Also (although she doesn't mention this) she gets seasick.
They're both tempted by KITT, but agree that if KITT knew what was going on, it would probably drive them to the nearest police station and turn them in. That leaves the Prowler, which they both think it pretty cool, because hey, spaceship! So they run off and become pirates in outer space.
And: 1, 4, and 10 have to jointly pick a charity to give a huge amount of money to. Which one do they pick, and for what reasons?
Jack Bauer, John Winchester, and Al Swearengen have to give money to charity? First of all, Al tries to take some off the top for himself, just to kind of facilitate the process, which neither Jack nor John look favorably on. Then John tries to persuade them to give it to some kind of public healthcare clinic he's used in the past -- but he figures that he'll take at least half of the money and use it to keep hunting, and hey, it'll let him give the credit card fraud a rest, so it's not like the money isn't doing good. Of course, Al sees right through this con, so that goes nowhere. Jack suggests (while glaring at Al) that giving the money to a house for abused women might be the best idea, but John takes that as a backhanded accusation that he had something to do with Mary's death, so that's off the table.
At this point, they stare at each other for a while. Al suggests playing poker for the money, which John would be willing to go along with, but Jack refuses ad insists that they can't leave the room until the pick something. Eventually, Al gets bored and suggests that they give the money to some group offering support to disabled veterans, not because he particularly cares, but because he figures that the other two will agree.
And: 7 and 3 are going to visit 5, who is in the hospital. What do they each bring 5? Which of the others is responsible for 5 being in the hospital, and which one absolutely is not?
Kaylee and Irina go to visit Frank in the hospital; Kaylee brings him fruit, and Irina brings him a 24-hour guard. (Despite the dancing fiasco, she clearly feels some kindness for him!) Kaylee, obviously, is absolutely not responsible for Frank being back in the hospital. I suspect that Lauren had something to do with it, which would help explain Irina's presence, too. Although if he had to deal with John Winchester in the box, he may well have had another stroke.
And finally 2 and 9 must *jointly* give a lecture series on *something*. What can they teach together?
I suspect it's something about raising independent and responsibly-minded children. I mean, it's something both Kate and Sarah did quite a good job at, although I suspect that it would be an awful lecture, because neither of them is entirely sure how they did it.
That was so much fun!

Poor Frank. Stuck with thieves and murderers and femme fatales as far as eyes can see.
