Thanks to all of you who commented on the fragment I posted last night, and apologies for inflicting something that unfinished and confusing on you. Due largely to your help, the story now has a name (Lectio Difficilior) and a new opening scene.

And how on earth did I manage to set a scene in the UL tea room without mentioning the cheese scones?
