ER spoilers. All I can say is

Seriously, you all know I love Romano. I want to be just like him when I grow up. But when the helicopter fell on him? Could. Not. Stop. Laughing.

Sniffle. Poor guy. I guess some people should just stay away from helicopters.

Does anyone remember in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the whale and the bowl of petunias? The "Oh no, not again," moment? It was like that.

I will say, though, that with Romano gone, if we return to the hell of the Carter/Abby non-relationship, I might well militate for a TV schedule change to WAT, which I believe is on at the same time. Only a good Kerry storyline can save this now. Well, that and John/Luka slash.

Oh yes--I'd forgotten about that irritating decision on the part of NBC. They don't deserve to have viewers, after a stunt like that.

I'll think about it. All TV viewing decisions involve negotiation with my husband. But he likes CSI, so WAT (or WOAT if you prefer) ought to appeal.

Yes! A burning helicopter fell on him! And (I think) squished him like a little bug. It was... I think the phrase "over the top" was invented for this situation.

You cold, cold-hearted person. (I suppose Romano himself would be proud of you, though!) Anyway, R. was my favorite character, and if he's really and truly dead, I'm definitely abandoning E.R.

I do have to admit that the scream he gave was utterly cheesy.

It was only the fact that Romano himself would have given into unrestrained mockery which kept me from feeling bad about cackling like a demented person over the deat hof my favorite character. Really.

In retrospect, killing off a good character for the sake of a cheesy joke is probably not the best idea ever.

Perhaps not, but Romano ceased to be written as a good character some time ago. I used to love him. This season, as I understand from TWoP, anyway, he became such a caricature that you couldn't even love to hate him.

Do you think so? I might be inclined to agree, if I had been able to see any of this season's eps, since Paul McCrane is such a good actor. But as far as I can tell, the writers have turned him into such a racist snot (along with Frank) that it would just be unwatchable for me. Your assessment of this year's characters, however, is spot on. Gah - I wish we could have something other than Miserable Abby and Irritating Pratt. I do like the way the recapper at TWoP characterizes Kerry's lines, e.g. "I HAVE NOTHING TO DO BUT BE SHRILL AND FLOUNCE AROUND." *g*

I already switch between WAT and ER, if I'm watching at that time anyway, and I can assure you that WAT's much better, although ER has that old soap appeal.

It was especially funny after the moment on the roof, where he has the angsty flashback and decides he's not going anywhere near the thing. If Mohammed won't go to the mountain...

Hell, I stopped watching well before the first helicopter incident, but I may have to read the TWoP recap of this one.
