Point the first: I am back. I missed you all. I'll write a filtered post about the Minnesota experience later, I expect. At the moment I have three days of work to catch up on.
Point the second: It occurs to me that over time, the content of this journal has changed dramatically. If you have no idea why you're still reading my Alias (or academic) blatherings, feel free to unfriend me. I hereby declare that today is Unfriending Vanzetti Amnesty Day!
Point the third: Surely I am not the only one to note that the bottle Simon hands Sark in Alias 3x05 is not a claret bottle? In fact it doesn't look like a wine bottle at all, and is certainly not the famed '82. My money's on beer--possibly Belgian.

Date: 2003-10-30 12:21 pm (UTC)I noticed. I thought at first that it might be whiskey or bourbon or some other spiritous liquor but even badass Sark wouldn't chug the stuff like that. Belgian beer sounds about right. I even have a bottle in my fridge...
And wouldn't it be just like Simon? What a slut that boy is (was).
In further speculation, wanna bet that Sark knew, even as he burned Jack's ass to the little pit-bull photographer, that our mercenary hearthrob would be dead meat the minute he tried to pull anything on Black Jack Bristow? 'Bye, Si. We're done.
All these diversionary tactics are starting to pile up.
Glad you're back!

Date: 2003-10-30 02:14 pm (UTC)I agree. No doubt Sark got up close and personal with Jack's interrogation techniques in a controlled environment, over the last two years. He knew perfectly well that Jack would kill Simon. My new theory, in fact, is that Jack and Sark are working together. (Of course, I can't prove this. Yet.) Jack knew that his cover had been blown. My belief is that Jack never intended Simon to survive the meeting--he doesn't have the resources to hold him prisoner and interrogate him in a more leisurely fashion, so he has to kill him.
Plus, now that Sark's out of jail, it's time to get rid of Syd's other secret eurotrash boyfriends.
