There was--say it with me, all of you--insufficient Sark. He's clearly working for the Covenant now (idiots!). Or maybe he's taken over the Covenant--any takers on whether we ever see anyone else representing their leadership ever again? But there are all kinds of wacky fanfic possibilities, like the scene where Simon starts telling Sark about his wonderful girlfriend Julia. And I can't be the only person who thought that Simon/Julia would be a tempting ship to write, can I? (Although how could Sydney turn away from Sark to a new secret Eurotrash boyfriend? How could she be so faithless?)

I'm considering opening a pool on Lauren's future: will she die tragically or be revealed to be secretly evil? I can't decide which I think the more likely outcome.

How nice to have a cliffhanger ending again. How nice to have a cliffhanger ending involving Sydney stabbing Vaughn, and don't tell me she didn't enjoy that, at least a little. Yes, I'm shallow. I did rather like Vaughn the securities expert.

I do not understand Jack's latest move. Was that just a stupid plot hole? A way of causing tension in the Reed/Vaughn relationship? Because frankly I thought they already had enough of that to suit any couple. Why, why did Dixon insist that Vaughn sit in the meeting with Jack and Sydney? Just so Vaughn could have something he couldn't tell Lauren?

It was a fun episode. I don't think that I was quite as taken with it as everyone else, perhaps because the fact that Sydney had a good-looking criminal boyfriend during her missing time does not shock me, and because my disbelief failed to suspend successfully during the initial hotel-break and deep-diving scene. I liked Simon, but I didn't find him all that interesting; if he survives the next episode I might change my mind. Is he a red shirt, or is he here to stay? (Actually, a plot arc where Sydney goes back undercover as Julia to uncover her past would be neat--would the Covenant buy that?)

I do love Sloane, though. Clearly saving the world is boring him to tears, because whenever he gets the chance he sticks the knife in and twists. Picking on Reed was rather unfair, though--she's hardly in his league. But it's hard to resent a man who so clearly enjoys what he does.

I have a weakness for plotlines involving biological weapons--they make good crossover fodder--but even ebola couldn't quite lift this episode for me. Sorry to be the odd one out.

Perhaps it was the insufficient Sark. And the inexplicable Jack.


Off to see what everyone else had to say, I guess. And to consider the plotbunnies. It may be time for a pot of rabbit stew.

I've posted a comment on this elsewhere, but here I go again...

I'm speculating that Sark is actually working inside the Covenant for Sloane who is, in his twisted way, advancing the cause of Peace. Didn't he get rid of Medusa? And now presumably another biowarfare threat has been checked off his list. (And yeah, ITA on the stupid Ebola thing.)

If I ever get this current piece finished I hope I'll have a little story about this. Coming your way in parts. Email too.

I'm glad you posted this again, because it's an interesting idea. Sark was certainly working double-time to make sure that Sydney found out about and destroyed Medusa. We'll have to see how the ebola thing plays out; since Sydney's probably left the tracker with Vaughn, she'll have to figure out some other way to ID the stuff they just stole.

Of course, this presumes that Sloane is working for world peace, which I'm happy to buy. Just because he's mean to the Triangle doesn't mean he doesn't have the best interest of the world at heart. I'd be mean to the Triangle, and I'm... Oh, wait. Never mind.
