I'm probably the last person in the world still watching ER on a regular basis. The fact that I am amazes me at times, particularly when I sit through episodes like last night's, which was all about Abby. I took an irrational dislike to her character when she was first introduced, and she's given me no reason to change my opinion.
But it was all redeemed by one beautiful moment of confrontation between my two favorite characters, Weaver and Romano. The claw vs. the crutch. That was just beautiful. The moment where Kerry called Romano her bitch? I need an icon of that.
And Romano needs to replace that claw-thing with a hook. Seriously.

I'm so glad Luka's back. There's a character I adore.

Date: 2003-10-10 03:38 pm (UTC)I'm not certain how Romano lost his arm, but the fact that he did is a source of regular amusement for me when I see ads for the show now. I always had a love-to-hate-him affection for Romano, and all I can say is dude, you gotta watch out for those knife-wielding Russian peasants.

Date: 2003-10-10 05:05 pm (UTC)Neither did I. I'd assumed that everyone loved her, because the show is so clearly trying to encourage me to love her--or so I feel. So I feel quite smug about my dislike (and yes, I agree, the scene where she tells him not to leave? Or where she's complaining that he went to Africa in the first place? I was all, "Get over yourself, woman!")
And I like Susan as well. I'm always happy when she's onscreen. Frankly, given how much everyone on that show is made to suffer, I'm glad that nothing's happened to her!

Date: 2003-10-10 05:27 pm (UTC)I was a loyal fan of ER for years and years, but in the last year I've steadily lost interest, to the point that I didn't even bother to tape it last night. Largely because of the criminal underuse of Laura Innes and the fact that I can't stand where most of the characters have ended up. All that Carter/Abby/Luka crap? Please. ;P

Date: 2003-10-10 10:17 pm (UTC)It was beautiful. First of all, Romano is (reasonably enough) pissed off because his health insurance won't pay for a top-of-the-line prosthesis, so he walks into Kerry's office during a meetign and starts "accidentally" breaking stuff with the prosthesis. Then she finds him in the hallway and they have the big confrontation. She tells him that his behavior was inappropriate. he suggests that she can't fire him. due to his disability. She makes a little gesture with her crutch and suggests that that excuse won't fly. He calls her a bitch (and at this point you should know that this whole scene is taking place in front of a group of schoolchildren, probably about 7 years old), and as he's walking away she says something like, "I'm you're boss, and as long as you work for me, that makes you my bitch." It was classic.
