You know, I should just stay away from boards; I'm far too easily irritated by other people in fandom. But I was browsing some Alias spoilers, and one of the shippy posters referred to Lauren Reed (the new Mrs. Vaughn) as Fowley 2.0.

I knew I was going to like this character. Now it's official. I haven't even seen a picture of her, and I already adore her.

Hee! That'll be my whole motivation for watching the show now. Fight tinhats with...uh, something that destroys tin?

8 central or 9 central? I'm so there.

LOL! I actually had a similar thought when a message - complete with photo and spoilers - came through on the Alias Over 30 list today.

*chuckles* I can try to forward it to you, but I don't know if the photo will come through - it was embedded in the email. You can look in the archives, though - I believe you subscribe to the list?

She's pretty.

And I like the idea of a premptive strike here. :)

Fandom, schmandom. Heh.

One of the threads I skimmed through had a long discussion of whether she'll be blonde or brunette in the show. (As this isn't 24, I don't think this is part of a larger moral issue...)

Bwahahahaha!

Luckily, my Coke's over there. *points*

I'll check the archives, I guess. Possibly, it's time for more icons.

New icons are always good. :)

Well, that debate at least can be resolved. She's blonde: http://www.alias-media.com/graphics/catfight.jpg

As for the boards- you can't say I didn't warn you. So far it hasn't gotten as vicious as the old Fowley arguments, but it's heading that way quickly. I think I like the sound of her, personally. Syd needs a real rival.

Defenders of Other Women Everywhere! The scorned lover, the lonely secretary, the plot device - the Harem comes to their aid!

And yet at the same time I can't help watching the really devoted shippers wailing and moaning about the destruction of their beloved show.

Oh yeah, because the introduction of a new female is the ultimate harbinger of doom. I don't blame you - I still get fascinated by the barbieshippers who spam me for writing Diana fic. Fascinated and annoyed. It does make my head spin that they still have enough venom to move on to other fandoms and continue the insanity.

Yeah, in XF, it was five years in and sometimes it seems like Diana's introduction was *meant* to piss people off. I watch "The End" and can't help but think that ol' CC was a sly dog, even more so than Joss. But shippers seem to stay shippers no matter the fandom - this will be interesting to watch.

I've never been flamed for a fic. I feel positively left out.

This could be your chance! Sympathetic Other Lover posted strategically practically guarantees it.

Especially if you actually show the sex. I believe it was Sophia or Jintian (probably Sophia, thinking about it) who took the plunge and wrote the first Scully/Doggett, and posted it unlabeled. Thus resulting in a fairly blistering flamewar.

I have yet to be flamed, sigh.

Excuse me?

Luckily, I'm not good at smut. Or love, now that I think about it.

You're wrong. Okay?

Topic? Oh, ships and shippers, yeah. I think adultery's hot, personally. Fictionally speaking, I mean. And mothers and daughters doing the same guy, and like that. Is there a thread on TWoP for that?

I'm just sayin'.

Someone has to brave unchartered waters, I guess. Was it really Sophia? I can't remember anymore.

I'm not brave enough for the sex, but then, I've just had to put Diana in the headers to get flames. She's like gasoline to a flame, that one.

write Reedfic--you know, I've never been flamed for a fic. I feel positively left out.

Write Reedfic and I'll write you a massive feedback missive to go with the flames. It's a promise. If she does more than navel gaze and actually shows Vaughn physical affection, that's even better.

To really get flamed, I'd have to have Vaughn showing affection to her. After Sydney's return from the dead.

Do it! Do it!

<--don't even know who you're talking about, but I am all for Loving Other Women and this one seems like a natural :)

I say we should get this poor woman honorary membership over at the Harem. I suspect she's gonna need it.

Damn, I knew there was a reason I was already polarizing to be *not* a Syd/Vaughn fan. Now I know why. M/S flashbacks! *G*

Yeah. I feel that the Harem has trained me well for my new mission.

I'd loved the new wifey since before I knew who was going to play her. I loved her from the moment I saw the ring on the finger. Life is just so so sweet.

My interest in Mrs. Vaughn is being piqued by all you people to a large degree, so thanks, because it's only increasing my joy.

And-- I was a diehard Mulder/Scully shipper, but as I don't give a damn about Syd/Vaughn, the kerfluffle amuses me greatly. Makes me wonder if this is what it was like for the XF people who didn't shriek "Finally!" in the S8 finale.

And, Diana Fowley could have been so much cooler. She's another character in XF I love in fic, disliked on screen only for wasted potential.

Monica Reyes. She rocks in fanfic and her first three episodes, but anything else... she seems to lose her brain cells.

suppose we can forgive that earlier lack of judgement... *g*

Some of us didn't lose all brain cells when we acquired that particular OTP. ;) I also have strong interest in Marita/Krycek. Oh, and Fowley and Spender stories. Deslea had one of those I now want to go back and reread. Oh, and the occasionally really well done Scully/Skinner.

Unfortunate Incident. Which never happened.

Nope. Never happened. No idea what you're talking about.

The only thing I have against Mrs Vaughn is that she's played by Melissa George, whom I have detested since I was 12. I can't really say what she's like now, but she was once renowned as the worst actress in Australia.

Heh

First of all,

Hi.

Second,

Honestly, I stay away from most boards except for Alias Uncovered. I lost faith in the sanity of most of the fandom back when Alice appeared. So, *shrug*.

Watching the freak out is like spectator sport.
