shows I watch

I saw this meme on
upsy_daisy's LJ -- it's the "What shows are you watching?" meme. You know, as in Your Friends are Not Watching the Same Show You Are.
Bones: I am actually watching the "OMG Bones is so cute!" show, which is sort of unusual for me. Look! She's the main character! And I think she's adorable!
NCIS: I watch the "Ziva David kicks ass and takes names" hour. What about you?
SPN: I am still watching the John Winchester Show. Don't mock my pain. Hey, I like it more than the "Race and Gender Issues Up the Wazoo" show, which is another option for me.
Numb3rs: I spend a lot of time with the "OMG David and Colby are SO MARRIED" show, but I also watch the "Megan is Awesome!" show.
BSG: I think I'm watching the "What the Frack is Going On?" show, which probably explains why I've become so unhappy with the series -- I keep hoping that it will make some kind of sense, despite over three seasons of evidence to the contrary. You just never get a good episode of the "What the Frack is Going On?" show.
SCC: Here, too, I am watching the Sarah Connor show. Sometimes I watch the Sarah and Cameron show.
Shows I have watched in the past include:
XF: The "Krycek and Marita vs. the Mytharc" show.
Alias: Well, this actually was The Jack Bristow Show, wasn't it?
The Wire: I alternated between the "Lester Freamon Solves Crimes" show and the "Oh, Bodie," show -- which left me out of step with a lot of the fandom, which seemed to be watching either the Stringer Bell Show or the Omar Show. (Given that I used to watch the "Frank Pembleton Solves Crimes, sometimes with Tim's Help" show on Homicide, this wasn't much of an evolution.)
Angel: For a while, I watched the Wesley Show.
Jericho: For a while, it was the "Johnston Green Steals a Tank" show, but at some point I also started to watch the "Hawkins is Awesome," hour.
Deadwood: I was probably watching the Al Swearengen Show. I know I wasn't watching the Doomed Love of Seth and Alma show.
I never watched it regularly, but when SG1 was on, I was usually watching the "Sam Carter Saves the World" show.
I'm sure there are others -- name a show you know Ive seen and I'll tell you what I watched!

Date: 2008-05-05 08:10 pm (UTC)That was mostly it for me, I think. With occasional special episodes of "Titus Pullo Keeps It Real."

Date: 2008-05-05 01:36 pm (UTC)Totally. Also the "Wow, you're unintentionally way gayer than you realize" show.

Date: 2008-05-05 02:26 pm (UTC)I sometimes see this show, especially when it's the One True Love of McGee and DiNozzo.

Date: 2008-05-05 02:01 pm (UTC)What about Buffy and Firefly? Have you seen Mad Men? I think you would like it.

Date: 2008-05-05 03:02 pm (UTC)I don't know that Firefly was on long enough for me to have a particular show, but it was probably the "Mal and Zoe (but not in a romantic way) Show." The Buffy I watched changed from season to season -- sometimes it was the Willow Show, sometimes the Faith Show, and by the end it was the Buffy Show. It was never, ever the Spike Show, especially once the writers started to actually try to make it the Spike Show.

Date: 2008-05-05 03:25 pm (UTC)I also was never, ever watching the Spike Show.

Date: 2008-05-05 03:54 pm (UTC)I enjoyed S2 Spike as well, particularly the "wait a minute, I don't want Angel to destroy the world! if he succeeds, what will I eat?" moments. But I haven't seen the show in such a long time that I don't know whether my dislike of what happened with the character will affect my viewing.
I spent a lot of time not paying attention to the fandom while watching, which in a lot of ways made it a much easier show to like.

Date: 2008-05-05 02:04 pm (UTC)I think I was watching very similar versions of XF, Alias and Angel to you though. Possibly of BSG as well, but I'd have to catch up with my viewing of it to be certain. I'm pretty sure that "What the Frack is Going On?" has a lot to do with why I'm half a season behind though.
Okay, a question for you: what version of Primeval were you watching?

I am so totally watching the Helen Will Rule the World Show, it isn't even funny. Sometimes I also watch the One True Love of Stephen for Nick Show, but I guess that's been canceled now.

Date: 2008-05-05 06:23 pm (UTC)Because I am also very shallow, I've often found myself watching the Stephen Is Very Pretty So Does It Matter That He's Not Always Very Bright? show. Alas, that one's looking pretty doomed right now, though I'm going to hold out hope for a alternate universe clone, for now at least.

Date: 2008-05-05 08:57 pm (UTC)Yes, I have enjoyed that show as well (as indeed the icon name suggests). But when Helen Rules the World, who knows what will happen? We could have an AU clone who is a little smarter, even.

Date: 2008-05-05 03:19 pm (UTC)Hahahahaha! Yes, I think that was a fairly popular show.
For a while in Season 2 and 3 I watched the Ellsworth show, because it was such a good show, but mostly, I kept coming back to the "Wow, Al Swearengen, how do you do all that?" Show.
As for the female character question... it's really best not to ask, I think.

Date: 2008-05-05 11:46 pm (UTC)It's beginning to make me crazy. If you can do that in a context where the women have no legal or physical power whatsoever, and still make them complicated, interesting, and agents of their own destinies--why the hell is it so hard to do in a show set in 2008?
Answer? I assume David Milch actually cared about the representation of women and minorities on the show, and made the writing support that concern.
Color me cranky. Also, I won't get another Netflix disk until tomorrow, I think. WANT MOAR DEADWOOD.

This is a good meme.

Date: 2008-05-05 08:09 pm (UTC)If I watched NCIS regularly (I've seen bits and pieces of half a dozen eps or so), I'm pretty sure this would be the one I'm watching. Probably alternating with "The PerkyGoth Files: DC" (as distinct from "The PerkyGoth Files: Toronto">).
