I do feel that Henriksen does not get a fair shake here, but then again, I don't have a great sense of his having people skills, from the show. Whereas Kathleen, as you say, is more deliberate, and more likely to pay attention to what she's seeing. Which may be useful when you aren't guilty, but some of the time, Sam and Dean actually are.
