He's a blank, can't get infected, possessed, and maybe, eventually, resistant to the Children's power. We still don't know much about how bloodlines/genetics may or may not play into the melodrama, and we have no idea what Mary might have done.
This is a really cool notion. I will have to go away and think about it some more.
