Greek becomes easier the more you do it. Really. And once you realize thatthe Odyssey isn't about the monsters at all, that it's about homecoming, and what it is to be a human being, it's so worthwhile.
Latin is...my comfort language, haha, if that makes any sense. I was made to take it pretty young, and you either chuck it or learn to love it I guess.
Oh, yes -- I ended up an archaeology major in college, but I took Latin courses for fun, because I'd been doing it for so long. So yes, I totally get that idea. Latin (especially Latin poetry) was my comfort subject, and Greek was the challenge. And now I teach the stuff: let this be a warning to you!
