So I noticed that the chicken I bought had a reasonable amount of fat on it, and so yes, as I type this, I am rendering chicken fat. I have become my mother. Actually, I don't think my mother had rendered chicken fat since I was twelve or something.

And on that note, L'shana tova. Wishing a happy new year and a sweet year to anyone who would like one.

indeed. Happy new year. I celebrated by going to shul with a friend and neightbour who turned out to be jewish. The service was for a congregation that ranged from the orthodox to the liberal (cork, not a big centre for jews, though those we have have been prominant) and the Rabbi was a visitor from th UK, Baroness Rabbi Julia something stein..( I'll have to look up her name, she is a friend of my friend so I only heard her name once in passing, usually she was just Julia)

But I've been meaning since then to get online and remember to wish you a happy new year too.
