I've just put my fourth batch of sourdough bread away to rise, and I have to say that it is (so far) ridiculously easy and everyone should try it. I'm sure I'll eventually get tired of having fresh sourdough bread every couple of days, but I can't see it happening soon.

(The real problem is persuading myself to bake anything else: I have some old bananas that really need to be turned into muffins tomorrow...)

And I think it might be time for a round of the crossover game: give me two fandoms, or two characters, and I'll work out the crossover.

Your sourdough adventure reminds me of another blogger who posted about other things to do with sourdough starter: Tea and Cookie's sourdough uses, which is mostly "make waffles or pancakes, freeze or eat just so." It all sounds wonderful to me. I tried making a starter many years ago, but the yeast/bacteria wasn't right and the flavor wasn't worth it as a result. Someday perhaps I'll do it again.

Meanwhile, I wonder how Aeryn Sun would handle the Rome setting? Something tells me she'd do just fine. Especially if she fell in with Voranus.

That sourdough pancake recipe sounds like just what I need -- my starter exploded last night, and so I'll need to feed it again today an use it tomorrow, but I already have a loaf rising. (The dough is very sour and tangy, which I like, but may be a little strong; I used a recipe which involved an organic apple, and it took off right away.)

The great thing about Farscape is that if you want a crossover, all you have to say is "wormhole shenanigans!" So, wormhole shenanigans lead Aeryn Sun to the Roman Empire in (let's say) the 20s BC. She's looking for Crichton, obviously, but meets up with these two guys and their rather odd family. I have to say that over time I grow less and less convinced by Vorenus' ability to organize a piss-up in a brewery, but I feel that Aeryn and Pullo would get along just fine, and the Vorenas would take her under their wing, or perhaps she would take them under hers. There would undoubtedly be a scene where she was mistaken for their mother or older sister -- and now that I think about it, maybe the Vorena girls really were Sebaceans. Don't Sebaceans age more slowly? that might explain why they aged about five years between 44 and 30 BC. So they would help Aeryn blend in, and she would explain to Pullo and Vorenus that teaching them to kill people might be a useful life skill to pass on.

And everyone would mock Caesarion.

I feel that way when I fall in love with a new bread recipe! I make it every day or every few days and can't imagine a new one. Right now I'm obsessed with an English muffin bread recipe. I've never tried sourdough.

Sourdough is great! It is my favorite bread, and I am so pleased that it is (so far) really easy to make even for a serious novice like me.
