Since getting home (or to Oxford, whichever you think is the appropriate term) I have:

1. Read A Feast For Crows.
2. Played a lot of Medieval: Total War.
3. Jury-rigged the tumble dryer and bought a new one that won't need to be held shut with tape.
4. Fixed the vacuum cleaner and vacuumed the stairs and corners.
5. Started on the kitchen. It's not actually clean in any meaningful sense, but it's in a state from which it could be made clean.
6. Failed to fix the home internet connection, although I think I know what's wrong with it.

I also had one of those delusions-of-grandeur moments when I considered ripping up the weeds in the front yard and planting lilies and other such things, as they're on sale now.

In news of the reality-impaired, while I was on my walk yesterday I noticed that someone had sprayed "No Mutants!" and similar graffiti on fences and walls along the road. So apparently Cumnor Hill is a hotbed of anti-mutant prejudice, which shouldn't be as funny as it is. (BH suggested that the graffiti was meant to be about genetically-modified crops, always a hot-button issue in the UK; that's more reassuring, somehow.)

This is the first chance I've had to be on line since Friday, and I'm not sure when I'll get back on. Right now I need to figure out whether I'll be able to get home without being hailed-and-sleeted on.

Ok, the Mutants thing had me laughing out loud at my desk.

What did you think of "A Feast For Crows?"

Plant lilies, they're always good!
