Oh dear. I have officially wasted an entire day. Absolutely nothing accomplished except a trip to the farmer's marker (where I did at least purchase some picked herring in sour cream which is positively ambrosial, and had a brief conversation with the woman selling it about the foolishness of these Anglo types who do not appreciate the wonder of herring). Oh, and I moved my stereo and a bookcase. But that's it.

Granted, a day of absolutely nothing is wonderful, but I'll have to pay for it tomorrow.

Maybe this is something that's going around. I didn't even make it to the farmers' market this morning, which is usually a Saturday ritual with me. I didn't get a thing done with my work stuff (didn't even try.)

I went through the RATales posts and made a reply, and aside from that I was domestic: did some cleaning with my new vacuum (having good equipment makes things a whole lot easier and more inviting), did some trimming and raking in the side yard, cooked up a pot of tasty stuff in the crock pot and even got around to making up that pumpkin bread I've been thinking about.

Hope you enjoyed your day of nothing since you'll have to be playing catch-up tomorrow. Sometimes a day off is a good thing, though, and rejuvenates you for the long haul.

Mmm, herring. It's one of the traditional staples of Norwegian cooking as well. Alas, I'm extremely averse to sour cream and mayonnaise and that sort of thing which I think limits my appreciation possibilities somewhat, but I'm very fond of cured salted herring with new potatoes and onion pickled beetroots... or fried salmon with a warm potato salad and new veg -- or tomato pickled herring on fresh wholemeal bread ... mmm. Just as well that the Anglo types don't like it if that leaves more herring for us. *g*

And I hope you're not paying too badly today for your day of wonderful nothing yesterday!

D'oh. That should of course be fried herring, not salmon. Whole fried herring, to be precise. (Although as a very fishy type I'm also fond of fried salmon. *g*)
