Bad expatriate!

I am horribly jealous of all of you who are in the US and able to celebrate the holiday (or elsewhere and able to celebrate the holiday -- I sometimes managed something when I was living in Oxford); I will be attending a departmental seminar instead, oh joy of joys. At least there will be wine and fellowship in and among the academic papers; last year three of my colleagues somehow made time to go visit friends in the US while I was stuck here teaching all day and seething about the injustice of it all. So this year I am working on thankfulness.
