Someone else in disguise...
Sep. 21st, 2003 11:28 amShould I be reading and commenting on essays? Absolutely. Or else preparing next week's Greek reading. Or vacuuming. Instead, behold the power of procrastination.
I keep beginning spy crossovers that peter out into nothing after half a page or so. If only I were more interested in writing smut, because really, put two good-looking spies in a room together, let them have sex. It's hard to see the down side to that. But no. I must have plot and angst and dull conversations.
Also, I started writing a few In Love With Truth scenes. First person is hard! I can't believe I used to find it easier to write than third person--now it feels all clunky. (And as an aside, why does Jacob Bookman, who is to all intents and purposes my Mary Sue, have this thing for Scully? I don't think I'm being overly prescriptive here, but this Scully is never going to date him. Ever. Nor is she going to run off with him to try to destabilize the government of Myanmar. I thought that the whole point of having a Mary Sue is that they get to screw the characters the author finds sexy. I feel cheated. I think Bookman needs a new love interest.)
This isn't precisely a GIP, but it is a new icon. I think the phrase may be Shrift's.
