Alias 3x07: Prelude to what?

The usual postep musings, in no rational order...
Michael Vaughn needs to be practicing his cricket. The England team needs him! He also needs to realize that his urge to protect both Sydney and Lauren is going to get him into a great deal of trouble. It was obvious enough that Jack set him and Lauren up, and my only question was whether he bothered to ask Javier a few questions before killing him. It rather depends on how much one thinks Jack already knows.
Of course, Jack didn't plan for Sark. Did Sark just discover the pictures, or was he lying to Allison last week? We'll probably never know. Cue the fic. Also the fic where Sark sees the pictures for the first time. Who gave them to him? Allison? Sloane?
Sark, the gentleman assassin. "Get in the car, please." "Everything on your registry was taken." I turn to goo. Someone brought that young man up right, though. I suppose it wasn't the father he never knew, and I have my doubts about Irina. This does rather put a dent in my "Sark and Jack are secretly working together" plot, though, as I can't imagine Jack would OK Sark letting Lauren in on that little secret. But it works nicely with the "Sark working with Sloane or Irina" theories, as the effect was to drive Sydney straight to Rome. The timing was rather suspicious: first the key, then her secret is revealed. I think it likely that Sloane is pulling all the strings here. He broke the code and knew where Sydney would go, and had someone in place to leak her location to the Italian police. The goal, of course, is to put himself in the position to arrange her rescue, and get Jack and Sydney working with him again.
Unless... my secret theory is correct, and Marshall is the mastermind behind it all? Come on--you know Marshall could take over the world in about a week, if he thought about it. And the scene with Sloane in the CIA meeting room? They were so totally passing coded messages to each other.
Ahem. Perhaps not.
As for Irina... it seems that she did not share all her intel with Jack. My barbieshipper heart is broken, but my higher brain functions are not very surprised. Does this imply that Julia and Irina spent time together? How interesting--Julia and Irina in Rome would be so nice! Since it seems that Julia knew that she was Sydney (how else to explain the letter sent to Sloane with the enclosure for Sydney?). Was Irina responsible for Sydney's re-emergence? So many interesting possibilities, so little hard information...
Jack is focused on one thing, and one thing only: keep Sydney safe. I expect that to drive him straight to Sloane. I wonder how far he's willing to trust Vaughn at this point, even with Vaughn's turnaround rescue of Sydney.
And finally, Dixon. As CIA directors seem to be about as useless as England cricket captains, I hope that Dixon's demotion means that he can be interesting again. How I loved the scene where he and Slaone came face to face!
OK, I admit it. I love any scene with Crazy Uncle Arvin. He's my new secret boyfriend. I am going straight to hell for this.
Peace now!
