No, maybe you are right about the accent, and I am wrong. I am terrible at identifying accents as well. She may just have sounded 100 percent Australian to me because most of the Aussies I know (e.g. my spouse) have had their accents Anglicized by years in the U.K. So to me, that's what an Australian sounds like!
And I dunno, if she turns out to be evil, that might be kind of fun. The baddies on the show do generally seem to be blessed with longevity (whereas both Francie and Will have passed away, right? my knowledge of the narrative suffers from gaps).
Incidentally, I too noticed that reflective "should I kill you?" look that Jack gave Marshall, and it made my blood run cold.
