Point the first: My heart goes out to all you East Coasters who suffered in the blackout. Especially
themoonbar with her Bataan Death March experience. Happy belated birthday to you and your feet!
Point the second: A 22-ep contract for David Anders! Huzzah! A prison break and (one hopes) a big storyline to go with it! God, I want the new season to start NOW!
Of course, my summer stories are now officially AU, but I pretty much knew that was going to happen. And frankly, who cares?
Point the third: I had the happy experience this morning of finding the book I wanted in the very first box I looked in. Go me! I still have more books than I know what to do with, but that goes without saying.
Point the fourth: Men in Portland are very forward. I've only been here since Monday night and I've already been asked out on a date by a guy I met while waiting for the bus. Dude, look at my hands! See the wedding-and-engagement-ring combo! Do the math!
Other points to follow, if I think of them.

I'm amused for you. And I also think I should seriously look at moving to Portland after graduation, if I'm still single by then.

Date: 2003-08-15 02:15 pm (UTC)I've never written anything over a thousand words that wasn't AU one way or another: plot happens, characters change, and you can't go back. Of course, this was X-Files, and eventually I had to give up on Carter-logic altogether. As long as the characterization is right and one sticks to canon up to a given point, I don't mind.
Where's my car?

Date: 2003-08-15 12:05 pm (UTC)Man, no kidding! Especially when one becomes, ahem, of a certain age. : )

Date: 2003-08-15 02:16 pm (UTC)We haven't seen much of each other recently, have we? My language has degenerated sadly.
The guy was only moderately skanky, so I guess it counts.

Date: 2003-08-15 01:25 pm (UTC)And I'll betcha if you tell the BH the date-at-the-bus-stop story, he'll be out to visit you, perhaps even to come there permanently, in a heartbeat. Men are no fools. :) (Except when, you know, they are. *g*)

Date: 2003-08-16 12:56 pm (UTC)Sabbatical, that sweetest of words to the academic couple! He's off for the year so he'll be here with me in Portland for most of that time. Right now he's getting the house ready for the house-sitters and doing some archival research (historians apparently need primary sources--who would have thought it!).

Date: 2003-08-15 03:42 pm (UTC)And I couldn't possibly be more excited for S3. This is why I love livejournal-- it's the only place where people aren't swooning over the non-existence of S/V every other second. More Sark, angsty!Jack, another pretty boy...what's wrong with that?
