Water has started to drip from the light fixture in the bedroom. Which is over the bed. Only a few drops, but I just know that it will be getting worse soon.

Deep breaths. Only a fortnight to go, and five days of that in Portland.

Hey, is it possible that might short out the light, or play havoc with the electricity? If so, you might want to bitch to the landlord (who already sounds like he needs to bitched at, btw)...

Hmm, perhaps threaten a law suit regarding endagering your life mixing water and power( not as dangerous in the states but still)

Sadly, the "illegal subletter" thing makes that something of a problem. But the leaseholder is back from New Hampshire, so he can stir up a fuss on my behalf.

I'll alert my apartment mate (who has his name on the lease and is thus legally entitled to bitch). Strangely enough, it was the stain on my bedspread that really irritated me. And the possibility of water dripping onto my feet in the middle of the night. A painful death seemed less of a problem.

Yikes. You do have my sympathy. I was so freaked out when water came pouring through my kitchen light fitting after the Unfortunate Bathroom Overflow Incident upstairs that I didn't switch the kitchen light on again for three days.

I shall keep my fingers crossed for a dry spell in New York for at least the next fortnight.

It was only a few drops, in the end. To be honest, I was less irritated about the risk of death by electrocution than about the stain on my duvet cover. There may be something very wrong with my priorities.
