I suppose, when I read something, it's the intensity of the characters I'm looking for (the characters I like tend to be intense, or at least, I react to what I perceive as such in them), and both your John and your Krycek are smoking intense here, and that works for me :) And Marita, too. What you imply more than describing, her desperate moving around to save herself, at the same time not letting go...it's scary and touching at the same time. (well, yes, I had to reread the story, lol)
