SPN 2x08: Crossroad Blues

I changed the channel just in time to see the ugliest ring in the world on Smallville. Enough of that. Let's go on to my preliminary comments on this week's SPN.
Oh yeah, let's start with Robert Johnson. I was really hoping for that. That made me extremely happy. The music. The music is making me happy.
Dean's hopeful expression after the porn site line never ceases to amuse me. But in general I am becoming more and more suspicious of Dean when he goes into quiet mode, when he's just listening. Because his mind is working but you don't quite know where it'll take him, and for a man who's not a very good liar he does sometimes hide his thoughts well. Although in this particular instance we know the general outlines -- the possibility of a deal, what we already know John did. There's an extent to which that lessens the dramatic tension, but then again, we never quite know what Dean will do.
I am so very glad that Dean is not, in fact, a fool. And that demons read the newsletter and think that Dean is real pretty when he's suffering. That's 99.5% of the fandom, right there, at least on LJ. Oh, Dean.
But really, like Dean would get ten full years if he brought his father back in a deal like that. John would be mad enough to kill him himself.
So, John. I don't know whether I want to touch that one or not. Dean will find a way, that's what I think. Dean will find a way. And John did what he could with what he had, and Sam's right -- they are his legacy. And he did go out fighting, but fighting for them, not for himself. Because sometimes Dean can see right through his father, and sometimes he doesn't see him very well at all.
I'm going to have more to say about this later, though, when I've thought a bit. But Dean will find a way, he'll find a way to do what he needs to.
Also, I have ER on in the background: has anyone else noticed that they're doing a subplot with Bloody Mary and children who fight demons? or something like that?
