crossover thoughts

Thought the first: Multiverse 2006 authors have been revealed. I'll post my story here in a moment or so, but I guess I can fess up now to writing Dancing in Emptiness, a Firefly/Star Wars crossover with River and Yoda in it. It was a pinch hit and I think it came out pretty well, really.
Thought the second: So, this FF/SPN thing. First of all, it's developing a plot, as I've said before, which means it's moving out of the land of episodic storytelling (John and Zoe meet up, kill some creature or other, have sex, and frankly, there's a limit to how often I could write that and I've hit that limit). I'm not quite sure how I'll handle this, because I have a bad record with WIPs. I think that I'll keep posting it in bits, but we'll see how it goes.
Also, as the story progresses and more characters are added in, I've been hit by this giant Dean-and-Kaylee shaped problem. Because they're each other's perfect one night stand -- hook up, talk about engines, have some sex, it's all good. I mean, we all remember how Kaylee ended up on Serenity, right? But although Mal and I are not perfectly convinced that Simon is good enough for Kaylee, we are also unwilling to allow the boat to be rocked in this respect, especially because all we'd be talking about here is a bit of fun casual sex. So I need to figure out a way to head this off before it becomes a problem. Because on the one hand, there's the not-rocking-the-boat thing, and on the other I'm very wary of more than one crossover pairing per story. It's just too much, most of the time.
Someone else should really write that one-night-stand with engine parts story, though.
