Not a bad day all in all

1. My shiny new green iPod is updating as we speak.
2. I got a raise without asking for it. Confusing, but good.
3. I'm still feeling the Alias joy.
Like all the rest of you, I have not the faintest clue what's going on with Katya -- how much did she know and when did she know it? Was she working with both Elena and Irina? But the notion that Elena (Yelena?) Derevko was in charge of the Covenant is the best retcon ever. Usually, I hate retcon, because something either made sense the first time or it didn't, and usually, fussing with it after the fact won't help. But in this case, I'm simply overjoyed -- this was exactly what I needed to help S3 and S4 fall into place. The person in charge of the Covenant had to be someone closely connected with Irina, someone who knew her and her life inside out. That's why I kept wondering whether it would turn out to be Jack -- but a missing Derevko sister makes perfect sense, and there's a certain pleasing economy to making Elena the secret villain of both S3 and S4.
I didn't buy S3 on DVD, and I still view it as the season that started out well and then trampled all over my hopes on its way to a giant well of suckiness, but I'll be very tempted to buy S4, and I may pick up S3 to see how it holds up in retrospect, over what has turned out to be a two-season arc. Were there a lot of dropped threads, both this season and last? Sure thing. But I have an inkling that viewed as a whole, the pieces will fall into place and a lot of random nonsense will come to make sense.
I know that this isn't good storytelling -- too much focus on the reveal and not on building a story -- but I'm still feeling so much dizzy joy that I'm willing to let it slide. I have that whole "my show! my show!" vibe, and I don't think it's just down to Irina.
As for the notion that Nadia is Jack's rather than Sloane's daughter, as Irina may have implied... I'm not entirely in favor, as I rather like the way this relationship has added some complexity to Sloane. He's honestly torn between his love for his daughter and his passion for Rambaldi; take away Nadia and you're left with Crazy Uncle Arvin, the Rambaldi Maniac. That said, the show is going to have to do something to return Sloane to the "adversary" position -- it's that or the redeem-and-kill option, and I'd prefer the former -- so taking Nadia away (and giving her to Jack, Sloane's greatest rival and closest friend) could have some nice fallout.
4. I'm starting to feel a little excited about the new Star Wars movie. It was my first fandom, and I'm still occasionally nostalgic for it.
