mostly for my own reference

While in Mexico, I read only four books, but two were by Anthony Trollope, who always suits that setting.
1. A new (to me, anyway) Hillerman Skeleton Man. Yay! Chee and Bernie! I don't really care how formulaic these become, because they're like finding yourself in a familiar place.
2. Trollope, Barchester Towers. I enjoyed this immensely, and meant to type out long and amusing passages on the duties of a Christian minister.
3. Andrew McCall Smith, The Kalahari Typing School for Men. An enjoyable enough way to spend a couple hours, but it felt very lightweight. Also, I thought for some reason that it would be a mystery, and it wasn't.
4. Trollope, Dr. Thorne. I didn't care for this at all, probably because I took an inordinately strong dislike to the heroine, Mary Thorne, who seemed one of those insipid female characters who do nothing but sigh worshipfully at the young men they adore and cry a lot. If I cared, I would try to figure out what Trollope meant by all that stuff about blood, but I just don't care.
Also, the pairing list that ate fandom is out at
ithurtsmybrain, and the following caught my eye. I find it a difficult list, because I rarely seem to know all the characters in a given pairing.
126. Marshall (Alias)/Joey Tribbiani (Friends): Please, they could be neighbors in LA! It would be so funny!
146. Nick Knight (Forever Knight)/Sybil Trelawney (HP)
232. Death (Sandman)/Teal'c (Stargate SG-1): This sounds tempting, but would end up tragic.
261. Susan Ivanova (Babylon 5)/Al Swearengen (Deadwood): Except that, you know, she'd probably kill him as soon as he opened his mouth. But wouldn't you want to see her face if they had to interact?
359. Magneto (X-Men movieverse)/Beverly Crusher (Star Trek): because you know it would have to involve a case of mistaken identity...
389. Rygel (Farscape)/Princess Leia (Star Wars): Hahahahahahaha!
417. Dr. Evil (Austin Powers)/Lisa Simpson (The Simpsons): Together, they really would rule the world.
548. Captain Hook (Peter Pan)/Jonathan Strange (... and Mr. Norrell): I dunno, I think it could work.
There were a few others that made me laugh out loud, but Rygel/Leia! It's too perfect!
