vaznetti: (Pembleton)
When someone complains about feeling marginalized or excluded in fandom, or says that something makes them uncomfortable, the appropriate response is never "suck it up." It may be "I understand, but there's really nothing I can do," or, "I understand, but things are as they are for the following reasons," but it is never going to be "Suck it up." Seriously. I realize that sometimes this is a difficult thing to remember or to put into practice, but that does not make it less true. So I would just like a to take a moment to praise the community and public relations committees of the Organization for Transformative Works, for displaying incredible grace and mindfulness. They have set a model for public behavior I hope to follow in my own life.

Title: Lightning fast and all alone (HL/SPN, Duncan MacLeod, John Winchester)
Author: Vanzetti
Gen, R for violence and language, c. 6400 words
Summary: The past weighs heavy on Duncan MacLeod, and the future on John Winchester.
Post-ep for SPN 1x 16, "Shadow."
Author's notes: Many thanks to Rhi and Rez for beta-reading and hand-holding. The title comes from Townes van Zandt, "High, Low and In Between." Freakishly appropriate lyrics here.

Two men go hunting a demon; neither is quite what the other expects. )

Comments very welcome; part of me thinks I'm crazy for posting this on a Thursday, but it's done, so here it is.
