the_grynne, a piece on anti-American sentiment in Europe; I thought it was interesting, probably because it confirms what I've always believed to be the case, that anti-Americanism has at least as much to do with internal European politics as with whatever America is or isn't doing on the world stage. I don't think that this is a particularly popular opinion, either among Europeans or among Americans; the one group would like to believe that their judgments are impartial and rational, and the other would like to believe that they can make themselves likable, and thus make themselves liked.
