May. 31st, 2006 02:59 pmIs there a They Might Be Giants song called "Iron Curtain," or something like that? with a line like "I will be your Iron Curtain"? because I'd hate to think that I've invented the song I can't get out of my head right now.
BH brought home a new computer game -- Rome: Total War. We both liked Medieval Total War a lot* so we're giving this a try. I haven't quite got the hang of it yet. Also, some of the detail work is really awful. Like, if they could find out about Marius' reform of the army, couldn't they have checked to find out that the plural of Scipio is NOT EVER Scipii? And the Junii Bruti are being referred to as the Brutii, which I think might actually be a south Italian tribe. So now I'm wondering if it would be worth my while to figure out how to hack the program just to fix their Latin.
*Although there was a funny moment when we were listening to some kind of talking head program about relations between Europe and the Middle East and one of the earnest and well-meaning types said something about young people playing computer games where you can conduct jihads against European nations. Because you can do that all the time in Medieval Total War, although of course many of the European states can conduct crusades, too, and it's not like you can avoid the Reconquista is you're playing the Spanish, you know?
