This whole "no internet access at home" thing is very annoying. I feel completely unable to kep up with my friends page--I skim everything these days.

In other news, my mother tells me that there's a new Alan Furst book out! Dark Voyage, apparently, and this time his tour of wartime Europe has reached the Netherlands. Alan, Alan--when will you write the magnum opus about the Norwegians? I know you have it in you.

A new Furst means that his earlier work is probably available in paperback. I haven't seen much on the shelves here in Oxford, but I think that his books may be more commonly found in the US (a complete reversal from the case when he began writing, when as far as I could see his books were only in bookstores in the UK). As most people on my friends list seem interested in espionage and conspiracies--at least when accompanied by excellent writing, plotting and characterization--may I recommend his work once more? Perhaps I'll write a review of Night Soldiers, as I'm re-reading it.
