Although I don't think that Fannish Appreciation Day happened, I'll just go ahead and be idiosyncratic. This set of thank-yous is also idiosyncratic and prejudiced toward livejournal people: there are a lot of other fans out there who make the internet a better place in ways that don't affect me directly, or who make it better just by being out there and being good people and writing good fiction. Thank you all, too.

[livejournal.com profile] alicettlg provides me with webspace and email and support. Without her, I'd have no place to hang my hat, or at least, not such a nice place. She also runs at least one huge archive and provides support for lists and webspace for people across the fannish spectrum. I suspect that a lot of my recent communication with her has involved me bitching about the populli.net servers, so this is a good opportunity for me to say, Thanks, Alice! I really do appreciate all the work you do.

I vaguely remember Fannish Appreciation Day being [livejournal.com profile] jennyo's idea--so thanks for giving me the opportunity. Without her, my life in fandom would be much duller. She runs a major multifandom list and archive (which I keep forgetting to join) as well as a whole set of specialized archives and resource sites, all while producing consistently good, original fanfic. Also, she channels Mutant Enemy.

[livejournal.com profile] kellykeil is co-moderator of RATales, still my Krycek-centric home. She is also a very good person to have around, just on general principles. [livejournal.com profile] muridae_x stepped in to bring the list's archive back to life--I have no idea how much work that was, but I know it was a lot. And [livejournal.com profile] kristenk2 is co-moderator of the Harem, my other XF home. She also toils away at a number of other XF-related projects, but they don't concern Krycek or Marita, so I don't know much about them. Thanks to all of you!

It's very difficult for me to figure out what my fannish world would be like without [livejournal.com profile] deslea. Would I ever have started to write Krycek/Marita? In addition to co-moderating the Harem, she runs a major XF archive and a set of linked specialized archives and resource pages which are the first place I turn in that fandom. {{{{Deslea}}}}

[livejournal.com profile] melymbrosia scours the web (or at least, livejournal) for interesting posts on anything to do with Mutant Enemy shows and delivers them straight to me via [livejournal.com profile] mutant_allies--she's reinvigorated my fannish interest in the shows. The community is a wonderful resource and I really appreciate it.

[livejournal.com profile] rachelanton73, Sleeps With Coyotes and [livejournal.com profile] gryphonrhi were kind and welcoming as I took my first toddler steps into online fandom--not merely on a personal level, but also by running lists which were friendly and encouraging. Thanks!

It's taken me years to do it, but without Glass Onion, founded by [livejournal.com profile] double_helix and [livejournal.com profile] hesychasm, I might never have made it out of XFiles fandom. I should also thank Te for running [livejournal.com profile] wereadshite, a list of recs pages, not to mention all the people who run multi-fandom rec pages. I rely on these for my reading in fandoms in which I don't participate actively, like BtVS and Angel, or in fandoms that are too big for me, like Harry Potter.

Getting into a new fandom means learning a lot of new rules and new ways of doing things. So it's always nice to find something that looks familiar. In Alias fandom, that's Cover Me, an archive that is intended to be comprehensive (i.e. all-genres and all-pairings). It's run by Bulletproof. I have no idea if you'll ever read this, but if you do, thanks!

No doubt I have missed some very important people. If you feel you've been overlooked, I'm sorry that I forgot you, and thanks for whatever it is you do to make my fannish world a better place.

Copied from everyone else it's 100 books I might have read )
45 read, another 7 begun, provided I can count.

You know, I wasn't planning on writing anything about the Buffy finale. But I think that this episode did what a lot of people were hoping--it took a season that appeared to have lost focus and pulled it all together at the end. It satisfied me on a number of fronts. Not all the i's were crossed and not all the t's were dotted (I know, I know) but they did good. In the end, the show was true to itself, and so were the characters. At least, I thought so.

Also, FX showed the first episode this evening, so I was filled with love for the whole of the show. I've watched it for seven seasons, and it was all time well-spent.

As for 24, one not very spoilery comment )

Of course, you can all guess what I really wanted to see in this last hour. Well, maybe next year.
