Apr. 20th, 2003 10:51 pmYesterday I did something called geocaching, along with
aceofkittens and our friend T. It involved a lot of standing around and trying to look inconspicuous while searching for small objects (whose description and precise location were a mystery, in one case, because we brought the wrong printout and T.'s GPS was less precise than it might have been). It was a fun excuse to wander around on a nice day. T. and Aceofkittens had gone geocaching the day before and nearly been arrested, so this time they had a series of excuses to hand, most of which had something to do with the idea that we were using the GPS to track our missing rat. As for why the rat was trackable by GPS in the first place (a chip? a collar?)... never mind. You all can imagine what I was thinking.
AceofKittens also brought me the most wonderful present--the soundtrack to A Shoggoth on the Roof, which is, as you might guess, an H. P. Lovecraft musical set to the tunes of Fiddler on the Roof. It was hysterically funny, with songs like "If I were a Deep One" and "Victim of Victims." And (miracle of miracles) the musical itself may well be performed in Chicago this October. If so, I foresee a visit in my future. I must see this. And I have the urge to go read Lovecraft.
