who are these people? do I know them?
I keep seeing a new rating system, with acronyms like "FRT" or "FRAO" (which I think means "too adult for you,
vaznetti). What do these letters stand for? Where does it come from? I like ratings, but not if I don't know what they mean.
Of course, I am an absolutely awful rater-of-fic: my instinct is to rate pretty much everything I write "R," not because it always contains swearing and almost never has any sex or violence more explicit than you'd see in an R-rated film, but just because it seems like a reasonable approximation of "if you read this and find it disturbing, that's your problem, not mine." Although really, I don't think I write very disturbing stories at all.

If I were going to write a Supernatural story that had the whole Odyssey as its intertext, that would be crazy, right?
---
There are new people reading the journal, I see. Hi, new people! I'm always curious about how people find me, so feel free to comment on how you got here, or just fill out the handy little "why am I here?" poll. Or both.
( why am I here? )
I was tempted to add other questions, of the "I'd like to see more of" and "I'd like to see less of" variety, but this journal is not a democracy. The sad truth is that I write whatever it is that I write, largely because I can't write anything else.

I slept in this morning, and have a huge amount of marking to do now. Woe!
