So, about tonight's Bones

What the hell? Was that the season finale and I didn't realize it? The station here doesn't do scenes from next week, so I am completely in the dark here. And I don't want to be in the dark!

Booth is going to be all right, right? I mean, obviously, because he is one of the stars. But I am still concerned! And I was all happy! and aren't they cute! and then! argh!

That's all I have. I had other comments, but they have been driven out of my head.

ETA: OK, no. I am not really sure that I liked that, as plot developments go. It felt melodramatic; it felt like a way of forcing the Bones/Booth relationship. And I'm not sure it needed to be forced -- they're already adorable, and they admire each other, and I firmly believe they were heading for weird-but-cute romance territory. But now, he took a bullet for her! and she shot Pam! It just seems like more baggage than they really need. Whether it's going to be used to make some distance between them or bring them together it just seems... I don't know. Over the top.

Don't click the link until you've seen the episode. Please.

No, there's an ep next week. That was my first reaction: OMG IT CAN'T BE THE SEASON FINALE!

Next week is the season finale. No idea if Booth is going to be OK, but... he's got to be, doesn't he? Eeep.

DB is an executive producer, so I'd be really surprised if they offed him.

Yeah, it was totally unexpected, though I was like, "Huh, they didn't resolve the Pam storyline, is that going to be ongoing?" and then she walked into the bar.

I suspect it will bring Bones un-emtional issues to a head, though. It will be interesting to see how she deals with what she did as well as with Booth.

It's the most right-now-please I have wanted to see a next episode in a long time.

I actually suspect this will NOT play out primarily shippy -- I think it's a way of getting Booth out of commission before Gormagon makes his move next week, so the team is absent the member who, you know, usually beats up the bad guys.

There probably be shippy overtones, but again, I really doubt that's the main thing.

And Booth is so going to survive.

Of course he is!

Angel Booth can't die.

I suppose this is not the time to be mentioning that I've taken over script clearance work for the series. So I've read the next script. :)

The trailer for next week actually said "Agent Booth: is he dead... or is he alive?" Hm, let me think. Shut up, Fox preview monkeys.

Also, I saw your post prior to seeing the episode, and I watched it with this vague hope that under the cut it said "OMG I can't believe he sang 'Mandy'!"

I'll tell you the same thing I texted to my mom: BOOTH IS NOT ALLOWED TO DIE.

*g*

I would also say that, while taking a bullet for her is new, it's hardly the first time their relationship has strayed into weird and personal and seriously life-threatening territory. The episode with Brennan and Hodgins buried alive springs to mind. Or the one where [spoiler redacted] was trying to kill Bones, and Booth almost got blown up.

Not only that, but they've almost been pleasantly effective at bringing them closer through shared moral quandary. I mean, it usually involves the effects on the conscience of killing somebody, but how often do you see that seriously addressed on TV? Not to mention the ongoing arc of Brennan's father.

Anyway, I'm just thinking that it may not be a ploy to bring them together. They're already about as "together" (in the colloquial sense) as two people who aren't sleeping with each other can be. And while I see your point about them not needing more emotional baggage, at the same time I hardly think that a little more emotional baggage is going to make much of a difference. Perhaps Sweets will disagree, however! Wouldn't that be fun?

You know, the Fox preview monkey's ridiculously overblown "teaser" was actually the point where I realized that Booth was totally going to live.

I was worried there for a second, though, because it was...awfully reminiscent of the thing that broke my heart on Torchwood.

You totally should.

*grin* That's certainly happened in the past.

It does make for an odd viewing experience (and sometimes I really wish I could be spoiler free.).

Interestingly, I wasn't really interested in this show until I started reading the scripts. The episode next week will be the first one that I handled clearances for. I keep making the mistake though of reading the scripts while I'm eating lunch. :)

What the hell? Was that the season finale and I didn't realize it?

I felt the same way right up until I saw the promo for next week.
