Now I can see the girl who would make Dean spill his guts, allow himself be vulnerable to her and see why he was still hoping that there was a future for them at the end of Route 66.

Yes, I think a lot of people felt that Cassie didn't make it to the screen as well as she might have. I didn't intend to use her here, actually, but once the idea occured to me I realized that she was exactly the character I needed -- and as you say, you can see in how she was written on the show what ought to be there in her.
