Even discounting spoilage without power, there would be enough food for months from there alone.

I wondered that, too. But the food-shortage plotline was really poorly thought out -- I've commented, and so have a lot of other people, that there's no way people would be that short of food, Ravenwood and a hard winter or not. So I just handwave a lot.
