If you want, I can post a link to your story for you -- then people can read it at your journal. That's what I usually do when I'm posting to communities, and I'm happy to make the post for you.
If you want to do it yourself, first of all -- you need to learn how to use some of the lj-specific tags, especially the "lj-cut" tag. Go to the livejournal FAQ and poke around a bit to get a better idea of how the site works -- generally people don't post a whole lot of text (like, a whole story) without one.
Then, to post to a community -- if you're using the update page, at the very bottom there's a place where you can select the journal you're posting too -- the default is your own journal -- and you just select "papawinchester" there, to post to that.
