Well, the story structure came out of the prompt, really, but it works well for Fred, I think, because she seems so often to need to escape from where she is -- and of course in the end she's unable to do so.

I really wanted to have Fred figure out what was wrong, but of course I couldn't. I had to leave the problem unsolved.
