Me too. In fact I'd assumed that he was Russian for a very long time anyway, because he hung out with Irina and I'd assumed that most of her henchman would be. Also, it never occurred to me that his accent was supposed to be English until various Americans informed me of the fact. :-)
My eyes are rolling over the Romanov connection though. Sheesh. He couldn't just have been the spoiled and pampered son of the Russian new royalty, the mafia? Let's just hope that he hasn't inherited that rumoured Romanov haemophiliac gene though, as it could be a trifle inconvenient in his line of work.
