Well, the previews for Alias never seem to have a great deal to do with the show we see, so I'm trying to remain hopeful: the preview was focusing on the Love Triangle and Kick-Ass Syd, with little informaiton on what the story was about. (But it's worth remembering that a 22-episode contract for DA doesn't have any relationship to the number of eps he's actually in.)
