For the record, I still have lots of Dreamwidth invite codes, if anyone wants one.

In other news, Spartacus has now realized that if he wants something he can't reach, he can move a chair over on his own, climb up onto the chair and get it. So much for all that child-proofing!

I made meatloaf the other night. I don't usually like meatloaf, so I've never made it before, but this was delicious! I will do it again!
800 g. ground beef
1 medium onion, minced
2-3 smallish carrots, minced (about the same volume as the onion)
1 cup bread-crumbs (from whole-wheat bread)
thyme and sage, chopped (from the garden -- about two stalks of thyme and one of sage)
1 1/2 tsp. salt
ground pepper
2 eggs
about 1/4 cup each of ketchup, chipotle ketchup and mustard.
Mix together, put in loaf pan lined with foil, bake at 350 for 1 hour.
It ended up very loose and crumbly, rather than solid and loaf-like, so next time I might pack it in a bit more, or knead it more beforehand -- one of the recipes I looked at warned against over-mixing, but I may have under-mixed instead.
*
I have finished A Dance With Dragons and will post on it later -- but in the meantime, has anyone else commented on it? I've seen
sophia_helix's post, but that's the only one.

Date: 2011-07-28 03:36 pm (UTC)My little piles of doom about three feet off the ground (along walls, especially, and on the table) will need dismantling and de-doom-ifying in a few months. I am trying to use the time to figure out what on earth to do with them, since we haven't much space. (Small condo-former-apartment--we don't actually have so much stuff.)

Date: 2011-07-29 09:05 am (UTC)Yeah, it was pretty long for a book in which basically nothing happened. Which in part is down to the way GRRM decided to split the project up (by geography, not chronology), but still, he really, really needed a critical editor in there somewhere.
